Hello! Thank you for your interest in the Temporary Food Supply Specialist position at Sierra Community
House, a non-profit offering a range of services that help individuals and families in the North
Tahoe/Truckee communities thrive. This is a temporary non-exempt position with an estimated duration
of work through December 23, 2025. The rate for this position is $25 per hour. The Temporary Food Supply
Specialist will be responsible for supporting Sierra Community House’s food recovery, distribution, and
warehouse programs. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and are committed to making a difference

Qualifications
• Reliable transportation and insurable driving record
• Strong communication, punctuality, and attention to detail
• Able to work independently and with diverse communities
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity are essential
• Fluent in English; Spanish a plus
• Comfortable with manual labor and operating equipment (pallet jack, etc.)
• Prior experience in nonprofits, food service, or warehouse work is preferred
• Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time; bend, twist, kneel and stoop; pull, push, or
carry heavy objects including the ability to lift 50 pounds on a frequent basis; and frequently climb
in and out of delivery trucks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safely drive a refrigerated box truck to transport food (must be insurable, with valid license)
• Receive deliveries and donations; lift up to 50 pounds regularly, sort, and record
• Set up and assist with food distributions, often outdoors and in varying weather
• Maintain warehouse cleanliness, including trash, recycling, and compost.
• Follow food safety protocols, ensuring food items maintain safe temperatures and meet other
safety standards for distribution.
• Work alongside and provide clear direction to volunteers.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment
